Maltepe Dental Center — an Istanbul and London-based practice — has integrated a full digital workflow in its in-house dental laboratory, enabling same-day provisionals and faster definitive restorations for international patients.
The clinic now uses intraoral scanners, CAD/CAM systems, 3D printers, ceramic and curing units, and Trioshape scanning technology to produce implant crowns, zirconia and porcelain crowns, EMAX veneers, digital smile designs, mock-ups, mouth guards, full and partial dentures, and temporary prostheses. On-site fabrication eliminates courier delays and allows same-day adjustments, a major advantage for patients traveling from abroad.
“Direct control over the fabrication process, from initial scanning through final fitting, allows us to achieve clinically acceptable marginal and internal gaps that support restoration longevity and reduce remake risk,” said Dr. Alper Gurhan, co-founder of the clinic.
Maltepe also uses intraoral photogrammetry scanners — ultra-high-resolution devices that capture the three-dimensional position and angulation of multiple implants with micron-level accuracy. According to the clinic, this technology improves prosthetic fit, shortens chair time, and increases patient comfort compared with traditional impression methods.
The laboratory workflow follows a clear sequence: scan → design → mill or print → finish → fit. Close proximity of clinicians and technicians enables real-time shade and fit checks, try-ins, and rapid corrections. “Having technicians work alongside our clinical team creates an immediate feedback loop that improves prescription accuracy,” said co-founder Dr. Yusuf Ilhan. He added that this reduces remakes and supports predictable outcomes for patients who need care in fewer visits.
Maltepe emphasized the workflow’s benefits for dental tourism: intraoral scanning removes the need for conventional impression materials; CAD/CAM increases reproducibility and reduces chairside adjustments; and 3D printing speeds production of surgical guides and provisional restorations.
As of October 20, 2025, Trustindex lists the clinic at 4.8 out of 5 from 320 reviews (315 from Google). The practice has posted more than 300 patient testimonials on YouTube and Instagram and shared over 1,100 Instagram posts across 12 years.
Maltepe holds an International Health Tourism Authorization Certificate and ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, and ISO 10002:2018 certifications. The 22-year-old practice reports completing more than 14,000 treatments for patients from over 85 countries and says it was the first Turkish dental practice to open its own facility in London.
The clinic says its digital lab aligns with industry trends toward precision dentistry and meets growing demand for expedited treatment protocols in dental tourism.
