AXA Group has partnered with Hainan Boao Lecheng to pioneer a new model for cutting-edge medical insurance, committed to providing clients with unprecedented access to high-end cross-border treatments and innovative therapies.
AXA China Insurance Company (Bermuda) and the Management Committee of the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone have officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The agreement aims to explore advanced medical insurance solutions and expand clients’ access to high-quality cross-border medical care by leveraging Lecheng’s world-class medical resources.
As China’s only special medical zone, the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, approved by the State Council in 2013, has leveraged its unique policy advantages to attract numerous leading medical institutions, expert teams, and cutting-edge treatments, covering rare disease therapies, breakthrough cancer treatments, and innovative pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
As part of this collaboration, AXA has also partnered with China Biotech Services Holdings to jointly develop boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), an advanced cancer treatment technology currently being promoted in China. This collaboration demonstrates AXA’s unwavering commitment to integrating next-generation medical technologies into insurance products, providing patients with more effective and diverse treatment options.

The signing ceremony also brought together several partners, including AXA International Reinsurance (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Qianhai Reinsurance Co., Ltd., and Gallagher Insurance Brokers (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., to sign a memorandum of understanding to jointly promote the development of BNCT and related medical services, demonstrating the project’s broad industry support and ambition.
Through this strategic partnership, AXA strengthens its leading position in the medical insurance sector. By integrating global expertise with Lecheng’s advanced medical infrastructure, AXA is actively leading a new era of cross-border healthcare, opening up access to cutting-edge treatments for more patients and contributing to a healthier future.
