ISLAMABAD — Maintaining good oral health is essential for overall well-being, and regular dental visits are a key part of achieving this.
Dental hygienist Muhammad Asad has urged the public to see a dentist or registered dental hygienist at least once every six months. He says this helps maintain optimal oral health and prevents serious dental problems.
In an exclusive interview with APP on Sunday, Asad highlighted the importance of oral hygiene in avoiding various health issues.
He advised brushing teeth twice daily to keep gums and teeth healthy. While brushing mechanically removes plaque, toothpaste provides extra protection against cavities and gum disease due to its active ingredients.
Asad explained that there are mainly four types of toothpaste on the market: anti-cavity, whitening, sensitivity relief, and tartar control. Each serves different needs. He stressed that only a dentist or qualified dental hygienist can recommend the most suitable toothpaste based on an individual’s condition.
“Choosing the right toothpaste is vital for maintaining dental health,” he said.
Reiterating his advice, Asad added, “Regular six-month visits allow for early detection and treatment of oral diseases before they become severe. Using the toothpaste recommended by your dental professional addresses your specific oral health needs, whether it’s sensitivity, plaque control, or early decay.”
