The Bangladesh Navy has launched a three-day free dental and medical campaign in Pekua upazila of Cox’s Bazar. The initiative is part of the Navy’s ongoing efforts to provide healthcare services to communities in coastal, remote, and island areas.
The campaign began today, Monday, at the Purba Magnama Government Primary School. It is being organized under the management of the Commander Chattogram Naval Area and supervised by the Commander Submarine, according to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The program will run until October 15, 2025.
During the campaign, specialist dental surgeons from the Bangladesh Navy are offering free dental check-ups and treatment to both underprivileged and general members of the local population. The dental team is not only treating common dental issues but also providing guidance on proper oral hygiene and preventive care. This educational aspect aims to raise awareness about maintaining good oral health, particularly in underserved communities.
In addition to dental care, a separate medical team from the Navy is providing general healthcare services. Patients with a range of illnesses are being treated, and essential medicines are being distributed free of charge. The medical services cover both common ailments and more complex health conditions, ensuring that residents have access to comprehensive care during the camp.
The campaign has attracted a large number of people from Pekua and nearby areas. Many attendees have expressed appreciation for the opportunity to receive free medical attention, particularly in areas where access to healthcare is limited.
This initiative reflects the Bangladesh Navy’s ongoing commitment to public welfare and community health. Through programs like this, the Navy aims to extend healthcare services to marginalized populations and improve overall public health at the grassroots level.
“Our mission goes beyond defense. We are dedicated to serving the people, especially those in remote and underserved regions,” the Navy said in a statement. “Through these campaigns, we aim to provide both treatment and awareness, helping communities lead healthier lives.”
The three-day campaign in Pekua is part of a series of similar programs the Bangladesh Navy has conducted in coastal and island regions. Such initiatives underscore the Navy’s broader role in humanitarian services and public health promotion, alongside its core responsibilities in national defense.
By combining medical treatment with education, the Navy seeks to empower local communities with the knowledge and resources needed for better health outcomes. Officials said more such campaigns are planned across the country in the coming months, demonstrating the Navy’s sustained focus on improving access to healthcare for all citizens.
