Kuraray Noritake Dental Inc. launched its new implant-focused product, KATANA Zirconia ONE For IMPLANT, at the DS World conference hosted by Dentsply Sirona.
The manufacturer states that this pre-sintered zirconia block, designed specifically for the CEREC system, is intended to simplify chairside implant placement.
Made from the company’s proprietary zirconia powder formula, the material can be rapidly processed and sintered using Dentsply Sirona’s CEREC Primemill and SpeedFire systems.
Both the manufacturer and clinicians emphasize that this combination can shorten the scan-to-finish restoration process, thereby improving single-visit delivery rates and efficiency.
KATANA Zirconia ONE For IMPLANT features a four-layer gradient zirconia structure (enamel, two transition layers, and dentin) to simulate the color gradient and translucency of natural dentin.
According to product information, it has a three-point flexural strength of approximately 932 MPa, and its mechanical properties are designed to balance functionality and aesthetics. The material also allows for precise positioning of the color layer using the CEREC positioning tool for optimal fit and shade transition.
The block features integrated implant-mounting holes for easy connection to titanium abutments and supports the fabrication of hybrid abutment crowns or hybrid abutments.
The manufacturer offers different sizes (S and L) to accommodate common mounting hole diameters and notes that hybrid abutment crowns simplify screw retention in most cases.
In complex cases, such as those with non-parallel implants, clinicians can still opt for separate crowns for greater flexibility.
Dr. Dinesh Weerasinghe, Senior Technical and Marketing Manager at Kuraray Noritake Dental, stated that KATANA Zirconia ONE For IMPLANT was developed with the goal of “making implant restorations simpler and more predictable,” emphasizing that its single, versatile block design provides the flexibility to choose between hybrid abutments or hybrid abutment crowns, depending on the case’s needs.
The product is also available in a variety of shades (typically VITA A1–D4) and is compatible with PANAVIA? SA universal cement, simplifying the cementation process. Overall, Kuraray Noritake’s KATANA Zirconia ONE For IMPLANT is targeted at digital dental practices seeking efficient chairside restorations, designed to balance esthetics, strength, and workflow speed.
Clinicians considering this material should consult the manufacturer’s operating manual and confirm its compatibility with their own equipment (e.g., CEREC Primemill/SpeedFire) and TiBase.
