The Ivoclar Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of integrated solutions for high-quality dental applications with an extensive product and systems portfolio for dentists, dental technicians, and dental hygienists, once again underscored its strong commitment to supporting young talent in 2025. Now in its fourth year, the Ivoclar Summer School reaffirmed the company’s dedication to practical, international education for dental students—with a format that encourages innovation, interaction, and professional exchange. For the first time, Ivoclar partnered with the renowned King’s College London to host an event in the United Kingdom.

A commitment to the next generation—with global, practice-oriented education
With “Travel. Learn. Connect.” as its guiding principle, the Ivoclar Summer School is aimed at dental students who have completed the preclinical phase of their studies and are beginning their clinical training. The goal is not only to expand participants’ professional knowledge, but also to show them the international side of the profession. In summer 2025, students at nine locations worldwide—including Germany, India, China, Austria, Poland, the Netherlands, Spain, Liechtenstein, and, for the first time, the United Kingdom—participated in a five-day program featuring hands-on courses, interdisciplinary workshops, case studies, and lectures by international experts. “We see it as our responsibility to equip young talents early on with additional knowledge that complements the traditional curriculum. At the same time, we want to give them access to a global exchange of experience through our international network,” said Markus Heinz, CEO of the Ivoclar Group.
Pilot project launched with King’s College London
A special highlight this year was the collaboration with the renowned King’s College London—one of Europe’s leading institutions for dental education. In December 2024, an agreement was signed with Executive Dean Prof. Michael Escudier and Director of the London Dental Education Centre (LonDEC), Bill Sharpling. As part of this partnership, King’s College London hosted an Ivoclar Summer School for the first time in summer 2025. LonDEC not only provided its state-of-the-art training facilities free of charge but also offered the support of experienced university lecturers. In return, Ivoclar supplied all course materials and provided catering throughout the training days.
“We are very pleased about the collaboration with Ivoclar and see it as the beginning of a long-term partnership. The program offers real added value for our students and ideally complements our curriculum,” said Prof. Michael Escudier, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences at King’s College London.
Ivoclar considers the partnership a key step forward: “Bringing together our practice-oriented focus with the academic excellence of King’s College London creates real value for both parties. We believe this is the beginning of a long-term and productive collaboration,” said Markus Heinz.
Travel. Learn. Connect. Returning in 2026
As in previous years, 2025 placed strong emphasis not only on academic content but also on international networking. Students from over 25 countries participated in the nine summer programs—cross-border and cross-cultural exchange remains a core element of the concept.
One thing is already certain: there will be another edition of the Summer School in 2026. Interested students can apply starting in autumn; the official application opening date will be announced in due time. With this, Ivoclar remains true to its philosophy: professional development does not begin at the start of a career—it begins alongside academic training. Through initiatives like the Summer School, the company continues to make a valuable contribution to the sustainable advancement of the dental industry.
