BANGOR, Maine — The University of Maine will host a free dental clinic for children on Friday, Feb. 20, as part of the national Give Kids a Smile® Day.
The event will take place at the university’s Dental Hygiene Clinic on the Bangor campus, providing preventive care to children ages 5 to 19 who do not have a regular dentist.
This one-day clinic is part of an American Dental Association initiative addressing gaps in children’s oral health care. In Maine, many families—especially those with public insurance—face barriers to routine dental visits.
Students in UMA’s Dental Hygiene program will deliver cleanings, exams, X-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, and oral health education, all under the supervision of licensed professionals. The clinic offers hands-on clinical training while providing essential care to the community.
The clinic will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 201 Texas Ave., Bangor. Families interested in participating are encouraged to contact the Dental Hygiene Clinic for more information.
