A Brighton-based dental spa is offering free mouth cancer screenings throughout November.
Dental Health Spa, located on Queens Road, has partnered with the Mouth Cancer Foundation to provide complimentary checks for the public in recognition of Mouth Cancer Action Month.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of oral cancer and highlight the importance of early detection, which can greatly improve survival chances.
Christina, a dental hygienist and owner of Dental Health Spa, said: “One of our team recently referred a patient following a routine screening. That check proved to be life-saving, as early diagnosis allowed timely treatment.”
She added: “We want to encourage everyone—whether you’re a patient of ours or not—to take advantage of this free service. Common signs of mouth cancer include persistent sores, lumps, or patches in the mouth that do not heal.”
Anyone experiencing symptoms, or anyone who would like reassurance, is invited to book an appointment.
In the UK, more than 8,000 people are diagnosed with mouth cancer each year. Early detection can increase survival rates from around 50 percent to as high as 90 percent.
