Ho Chi Minh City Dental Clinics Expand Advanced Services While Prioritizing Safety

Ho Chi Minh City – Dental care in Ho Chi Minh City has grown rapidly, with thousands of clinics now offering advanced procedures such as dental implants, bone grafting, sinus lifts, and modern restorations. These services give residents broader access to state-of-the-art treatments.

However, the rise in complex dental procedures has also raised safety concerns. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health highlighted issues including a shortage of qualified staff, outdated or insufficient equipment, and inconsistent clinical practices at some facilities.

Previously, surgical techniques classified as Category I or “special-category” procedures had to go through a pilot phase before being officially adopted. This requirement also applied to specialized dental procedures.

Under the 2023 Law on Medical Examination and Treatment, pilot programs for “new techniques” — procedures performed for the first time in Vietnam — are no longer mandatory. Clinics that had started pilot programs under the previous regulations must complete the required case numbers and submit reports for official evaluation before full approval.

To reinforce safety and compliance, the Department of Health has issued new guidelines and organized training for dental and maxillofacial clinics. Officials emphasized that these measures aim to uphold professional standards, ensure transparency, and protect patients, rather than restrict medical practice.

The Department encourages clinics to enhance their skills, adopt innovative techniques, and fully comply with updated legal requirements to ensure safe and high-quality dental care.
