Atherton-based Mayfield Dental Care is relocating to a larger site after securing a £1.1 million funding package to meet the rising demand for dental services in the local area.
For over 40 years, the practice has been serving 8,500 patients from its current Mayfield Street location. With a team of 14 staff, it offers a mix of NHS and private cosmetic treatments.
Dr. Chris Ainsworth, the lead dentist, expressed his excitement about the expansion, stating, “The demand for dental care in our area has been growing, and this opportunity to create a larger practice is something we couldn’t pass up.”
The new site, located in a historic building dating back to 1902, will feature six surgeries—two more than the current location. The move will allow the practice to accommodate more patients and offer expanded private treatments, including dental implants, composite bonding, and Invisalign.
In addition to the space expansion, Mayfield Dental Care has invested in advanced intraoral scanners, which will improve the accuracy and comfort of treatments like crowns, dentures, and veneers by replacing traditional impressions.
The relocation is expected to be completed early in the new year, and the practice will also create up to four new full-time roles to support the growing team.
Stephen Morris, relationship manager at Lloyds, which provided the funding, commended the practice for its commitment to community care, saying, “Mayfield Dental Care’s continued growth over four decades speaks to its importance in the local area. We are pleased to have helped them expand.”
Mayfield Dental Care is owned by Freedom Smiles Holdings Ltd., which also operates Freedom Dental in Cheadle Hulme and Heaton Mersey Dental in Heaton Mersey.
