SPOKANE, Wash. — Local veterans in need of dental care have a chance to receive services free of charge at an upcoming community event. On November 7, Smile More Spokane Family Dentistry will host its sixth annual “Smiles for Freedom” event, offering a full day of complimentary dental care to honor those who have served.
The event, which has grown in scope and impact over the years, provides an opportunity for the Spokane community to give back to local veterans. Since its inception, “Smiles for Freedom” has delivered more than $57,000 in free dental services to over 80 veterans. The initiative addresses a critical gap in healthcare access for many veterans, who often face limited options for dental care.
“Veteran dental care is a growing need in our country,” a spokesperson from Smile More Spokane Family Dentistry said in a press release. “Fewer than ten percent of veterans qualify for dental services through the VA. To receive VA dental care, a veteran must be considered 100 percent disabled or have suffered specific dental injuries during service. Good oral health is essential to overall health. This event allows our office to give back by helping those who have dedicated themselves to our country and communities.”
The services offered during “Smiles for Freedom” include diagnostic exams, cleanings, fillings, and extractions. Additional treatments may also be provided depending on the individual needs of each veteran. The dental team is prepared to address a wide range of oral health concerns during the event.
The event will take place from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Smile More Spokane Family Dentistry office, located at 9671 N. Nevada, Suite 200. Veterans interested in receiving care must schedule an appointment in advance, as all services are by appointment only.
Organizers say the event is part of a larger effort to support the health and well-being of veterans in the Spokane area.
