Virginia Telemental Health Expands Free Services with Lackey Clinic

The Virginia Telemental Health Initiative (VTMHI) is a statewide virtual free mental health care and workforce development program.

Recently, the Lackey Free Clinic in Yorktown officially joined VTMHI’s free charity clinic partner program.

The Lackey Free Clinic is committed to providing free medical and dental care to uninsured adults. Patients in need can contact the clinic to confirm eligibility and make an appointment for services.

According to VTMHI, the program has greatly improved Virginia residents’ access to mental health care by providing free telepsychotherapy to uninsured and underinsured patients referred by partner clinics.

At the same time, VTMHI is also committed to mental health workforce building, by pairing licensed volunteer mental health service providers with clinical supervisors to ensure that they get the necessary patient contact time to help clinic patients get free mental health services.

Since the launch of the project, 60 licensed mental health service providers have provided valuable help to more than 350 patients, promoting the accessibility and quality of mental health services across the state.
