The DEXIS IS 3800W wireless intraoral scanner offers clinicians greater workflow flexibility and versatility

When evaluating new products for his dental practice, Dr. Gregory Gillespie insists, “If the product isn’t intuitive, it won’t last very long in our office.”
Recently introducing the DEXIS IS 3800W into his practice, he found, “It felt really natural to work with, and the learning curve is minimal for my team.”
Dr. Gillespie enjoys the scanner’s ability to capture both digital scans and vivid 2D intraoral images. “A built-in intraoral camera is a no-brainer, especially when you’re already taking patients’ intraoral scans,” he said. “I was pleasantly surprised that the IS 3800W takes such exceptional 2D images.”
Always Ready for Action
The wireless, high-performance IS 3800W offers up to an hour of continuous scanning through a stable, point-to-point Wi-Fi connection. A smart charging station, backup power cable, and optional extra batteries ensure the scanner is always ready for use.
“Sometimes, cords get tangled and can limit your positioning while scanning patients; that’s not an issue with a wireless scanner,” Dr. Gillespie said.
Capture Scans with Less Effort
With a proven scanning time of 25 seconds for a single arch,* this compact, lightweight scanner also features an enlarged field of view and broader depth of field to capture finer details, such as inter-proximal and subgingival areas.
“It feels good to work quickly and accurately, and it does especially well with soft-tissue scans, which has been helpful for diagnostics and treatment planning for removable prostheses and implants,” Dr. Gillespie said.
Offering intuitive, 2-button operation, the IS 3800W’s motion control sensor allows users to orient a digital model on the screen without touching the computer mouse.
Dr. Gillespie said, “If you’re switching between arches, you can click the other arch using the scanner itself, which lets you complete the scanning process more quickly.”
With an open-architecture design, IS ScanFlow software lets users work freely among different clinical applications, as well as share scan files easily and securely to labs, manufacturers, or referrals.
“With every task you use your intraoral scanner to perform, the IS 3800W makes it easy to accomplish, and without the extra step of transferring scans into your imaging software,” Dr. Gillespie concluded. “That is one of its biggest selling points for me.”
