Millennium Dental Technologies, Inc. (MDT) announced multi-year, multi-million dollar contracts with both the US Navy and US Army
Post Graduate Periodontal Residency programmes of both service branches are being trained to use PerioLase® MVP-7™ in the LANAP® Protocol. Select Post-Doctorate residents along with Programme Directors and mentors will be treating periodontal (gum) disease of US military service men and women. Programme Directors and mentors will also be selected for candidacy as Certified Instructors of the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry (IALD).
The LANAP protocol is the only laser gum disease treatment to have rigorous, peer-reviewed, scientific evidence, along with FDA clearance for True Regeneration™. True periodontal regeneration is the “gold standard” of healing following periodontitis treatments as it results in the functional rejuvenation of new bone, new functional ligaments, and new root coating (cementum) lost to the destructive processes of gum disease.
The LANAP Protocol is further advantageous for the military as soldiers and sailors are able to return to duty significantly faster due to the minimally invasive nature of the fibre-optic, arthroscopic-type surgery. Since the LANAP Protocol is laser-based, there is less bleeding, less swelling, less pain (lasers seal nerve endings), and no need to prescribe opioids for post-operative pain.
“As we learn more about the oral-systemic connection between gum disease, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, certain cancers and other conditions, it is encouraging to have a patient-friendly, minimally invasive surgical approach to treat gum disease, one of the most common medical conditions in the US, using the LANAP protocol,” states Dawn M. Gregg, DDS, IALD CEO and training director. “We’re proud to support our Armed Forces with the true regenerative treatment option offered by over 33 per cent of active US members of the American Academy of Periodontology and dental schools such as Rutgers School of Dental Medicine.” – Millennium Dental Technologies, Inc.
