Dabur India has started construction of its new manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, marking the company’s first plant in South India. The project, which involves an investment of Rs 400 crore, is set to bring direct employment to more than 250 people. Thousands of indirect job opportunities are also expected to arise as a result of this development.
The new factory is located in Tindivanam, Villupuram district. Dabur plans to manufacture several products at this site, such as its popular toothpaste brands ‘Dabur Red’ and ‘Meswak,’ along with other personal care items like ‘Dabur Gulabari,’ Vatika Hair Oil, and Anmol Hair Oil. The facility will also boost production of beverages, including Real Juices, and support the company’s hair oil offerings, positioning Tindivanam as a central hub in Dabur’s supply chain.
The ground-breaking ceremony was attended virtually by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, along with cabinet member TRB Rajaa and principal secretary Arun Roy. Dabur’s CEO Mohit Malhotra stated that the new plant would help strengthen their supply resilience and further embed ‘Made in Tamil Nadu’ into Dabur’s growth in the region. He highlighted how the facility will enable faster, greener, and more consumer-focused manufacturing, making it easier for Dabur to serve customers in South India.
Saurabh Lal, Dabur’s Global Operations Head, emphasized the company’s commitment to responsible and futuristic manufacturing. According to Lal, the factory will operate fully on renewable energy and foster an inclusive work environment, with plans for a workforce made up mostly of women. The facility is expected to play a pivotal role in improving scale, efficiency, and sustainability for Dabur’s operations in the southern part of the country.
This expansion marks a significant step in Dabur India’s manufacturing journey, reinforcing their presence in South India and highlighting their focus on employment, environmental responsibility, and rapid response to consumer needs in the region.
