Amann Girrbach Launches Zolid Lunaris Zirconia Expanding High-Strength Dental Products

Amann Girrbach has introduced Zolid Lunaris, a new multilayer zirconia designed for all types of fixed dental restorations, combining high strength with workflow efficiency.

Zolid Lunaris offers a flexural strength of 1,000 MPa, positioning it for a wide range of clinical indications. The material features intensified A–D shades that reflect current market trends and are intended to reduce finishing time by minimising post-processing steps, according to the company.

A key feature is its high-speed sintering capability. Using Amann Girrbach’s Therm DRS system, crowns and up to three-unit bridges can be sintered in just 15 minutes, supporting faster and more economical laboratory workflows.

The material is available in 98 mm discs with heights ranging from 12 to 30 mm. The portfolio includes 16 A–D shades and five bleach shades, offering flexibility for different restorative needs. Zolid Lunaris is manufactured in Austria and supported by Amann Girrbach’s established quality standards and service network.

Within the Zolid product family, the company positions Zolid Lunaris as a performance-focused complement to Zolid Bion, which is primarily aimed at aesthetic applications.

Melanie Roeschmann, senior product manager consumables at Amann Girrbach, said the material was developed in response to changing customer expectations. She noted that the intensified colouring helps achieve a more accurate match to the Vita Shade Guide while reducing time-consuming finishing steps. Zolid Lunaris is described as the successor to Zolid Gen-X, combining premium quality with strong value.

Axel Reichert, senior manager for research and development of materials, highlighted the efficiency gains. He said Zolid Lunaris advances high-speed sintering without compromising material properties, making laboratory workflows simpler and more cost-effective.

Designed by dental experts for both laboratory and clinical use, Zolid Lunaris features balanced white density to support precise milling and reduce tool wear. An individually calculated shrinkage factor is used to ensure accurate fit. When paired with Amann Girrbach’s Motion Air milling unit, the material forms part of an integrated digital workflow.

Dental technicians have also responded positively. Alain Sakr, co-founder of the Romanian zirconia-focused laboratory Zirconnet, described the material as combining impressive aesthetics with high strength. Salvatore Giuseppe Umile, owner of Dentek Laboratorio Odontotecnico in Italy, praised its colour precision, citing accurate cervical and incisal shade matching as a significant aesthetic advancement.
