Seoul, September 25 — 69-year-old Chairman Lee Yong-ik donated 2.5 billion won to the Seoul National University Graduate School of Dentistry on its 100th anniversary. Since his first donation in 1995, Lee has donated over 5 billion won over the past 30 years.
The donation is part of the Shinung Dental Scholarship Program, which launched in 1999 and has supported students at 11 dental schools in South Korea.
In 2017, the Shinung Yeonsong Academic Foundation was established as the only public foundation in the dental field, promoting researcher exchange through the Yeonsong Scholarship Camp.
SNU President Yoo Hong-lim praised the donation, saying it will enhance the graduate school’s research capabilities and global competitiveness.
Lee Yong-ik expressed his “delight to contribute to such a meaningful cause” and expressed his hope that the donation will help the Seoul National University Graduate School of Dentistry advance global oral health research and education.
He added that Shinung will continue to support talent development and academic development, building on its 70-year partnership with the dental community.
