Laredo Woman Charged for Unlicensed Tooth Extractions

The Laredo Police Compliance Response Team (CRT) and Vice arrested a woman for allegedly practicing medicine from her home without a state board license.

The incident began when a woman filed a complaint after going to Jennie Del Carmen Lara, 50, for dental treatment.

The woman agreed to have a molar removed, but Lara allegedly removed six teeth without her consent. As a result, police launched an investigation codenamed “Operation Tooth Fairy” to collect evidence.

Police said the investigation revealed that Lara also served multiple potential clients. After collecting all the findings, police issued an arrest warrant.

The search warrant was executed on Wednesday, July 9, at a residence in the 1400 block of Hawk Dr. in the Plantation subdivision, and evidence of Lara providing dental services was found.

She was arrested and charged with two counts of violating the Dental Act, a third-degree felony, police report.

There is also an arrest warrant for another defendant who has scheduled to surrender at a later date; however, authorities have not yet released his identity.
