Ersin Atinel, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Izmir Chamber of Dentists (IZDO), emphasized their commitment to improving the health of society by starting with individual awareness. He explained that the organization carries out field visits to educate the public as part of its social responsibility.
Atinel highlighted the work of the Community and Oral Health (TADS) commission within IZDO, which has provided oral and dental health education to hundreds of children across various districts in İzmir. In addition to education, the commission also performs oral examinations for students.
Parents Receive Important Information
Atinel, also a member of the Istanbul Dental Association, said their screenings focus on children, who are the adults of the future. “We especially target areas with greater socio-economic challenges,” he stated. “We ask students questions to teach them about healthy teeth, the causes of cavities, proper nutrition, and effective brushing techniques. We also answer their questions and inform parents when treatment is needed.”
He added that IZDO works closely with local municipalities on these efforts and plans to continue reaching students in different districts throughout the new school year.
