KLOTEN, Switzerland — Nobel Biocare has expanded its digital dentistry portfolio with the launch of the DEXIS Imprevo intraoral scanner, integrating the device into its global distribution network.
The company said the addition strengthens its end-to-end digital ecosystem, supporting workflows that run from intraoral scanning and treatment planning through to final restorative outcomes in both restorative and implant dentistry.
According to Nobel Biocare, the DEXIS Imprevo scanner is designed to deliver fast, accurate, and flexible scanning. The system combines parallel processing technology with vivid color imaging and direct integration with DTX Studio Clinic treatment planning software. This integration allows clinicians to streamline case planning and enhance patient communication within a connected digital environment.
The scanner features a handpiece that is 20 percent slimmer than the IS 3800 series, a change intended to improve ergonomics for clinicians and comfort for patients. Nobel Biocare said the device can capture scans at speeds of up to 40 frames per second, roughly twice the performance of the IS 3800 scanners.
The DEXIS Imprevo also offers an extended depth of field of 25 millimeters, ranging from –2 mm to +23 mm. This represents a 39 percent increase compared with the IS 3800 line and enables the capture of deeper preparations and hard-to-reach interdental areas, broadening its clinical applications.
The system uses GPU-based parallel processing to generate high-density digital meshes with shorter processing times, supporting more efficient and precise digital workflows.
“We are excited to welcome the DEXIS Imprevo scanner to our digital portfolio,” said Rosemary O’Neill, vice president and general manager for Procera and digital solutions at Nobel Biocare. “This addition underscores our dedication to providing diverse, high-quality solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
Nobel Biocare and DEXIS are both part of Envista Holdings Corporation. The collaboration brings together DEXIS scanning technology with Nobel Biocare’s restorative and implant solutions, aiming to deliver more integrated digital workflows and improved clinical outcomes.
