DeSantis Appoints Three New Members to UNF Board, Including Orthodontics Executive

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed three new members to the University of North Florida Board of Trustees and reappointed two current members, expanding leadership for the Jacksonville-based public university.

New appointees are Andrew Hudson, Michael Mayo and Daniel Skinner. Christopher Lazzara and Allison Korman Shelton were selected to serve another term on the board.

Hudson is vice president and special counsel for corporate affairs at BlinkRX, a prescription drug retail company. His past roles include vice president and general counsel at TechNet, counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Legal Policy, and legislative director and general counsel for U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas.

Mayo serves as president and CEO of Baptist Health, one of the region’s largest health care systems. He is a member of the American Hospital Association Board of Trustees and has received an honorary doctorate in health care from Jacksonville University.

Skinner is an assistant state attorney and director of homicide for the 4th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office in Northeast Florida. He previously led the office’s Special Prosecution Unit.

Lazzara, who is returning to the board, is co-founder and CEO of MountainStar Capital and a co-founder of the Georgia School of Orthodontics. He has also been recognized as one of Jacksonville’s Top 40 Under 40 business professionals by the Jacksonville Business Journal.

Shelton, also reappointed, is the owner and a mental health counselor at San Marco Counseling. She has held leadership roles in the Jacksonville community, including serving on the Bolles School Board of Trustees and as president of the Jewish Community Alliance.

The UNF Board of Trustees was established in 2001 and consists of 13 members who oversee university policy. Six members are appointed by the governor, while five are appointed by the Florida Board of Governors. All new appointments and reappointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
