A dental clinic in Harrow has launched a new initiative offering patients grants of up to £5,000 to help cover the cost of same-day dental implants, a treatment used to replace missing teeth with permanent prosthetic solutions.
Complete Smiles, a family-run private practice, said the programme is designed to address the high cost of dental implants, which remain out of reach for many patients in the UK. Although implants are widely regarded as the most effective solution for replacing missing adult teeth, they are rarely funded by the NHS and are usually available only through private care.
Under the new Patient Access Grants programme, eligible patients can receive financial support towards advanced implant procedures such as All-on-4 and All-on-6 treatments. These techniques are commonly considered the gold standard for full-mouth tooth replacement.
“We know affordability is the biggest obstacle for patients considering dental implants,” said Sanjeiv Asokan, co-founder and managing director of Complete Smiles. “By introducing Patient Access Grants alongside our interest-free finance options, we are removing barriers and giving more people the chance to restore their smiles.”
According to Asokan, interest in the scheme was immediate after it was announced on social media, with applications arriving from across the UK. Many applicants shared personal accounts of how missing teeth had affected their confidence, health and quality of life.
“The applications have been deeply emotional,” Asokan said. “Some people told us they needed implants urgently for work or social reasons, while others spoke about simple wishes, like being able to eat solid food again.”
Unlike children’s teeth, adult teeth do not grow back once lost. While dentures and bridges are more affordable options, they do not fully restore natural chewing function or comfort. People with multiple missing teeth often struggle with restricted diets and reduced self-esteem.
Dental implants, by contrast, are designed to closely mimic natural teeth. They allow patients to chew and speak normally and are associated with high success rates in the UK, according to clinical reviews.
The clinic said the initiative reflects a wider challenge facing patients during the cost-of-living crisis, as many delay or abandon dental treatment to prioritise essential expenses.
“Most of our patients who need implants do not qualify for NHS treatment and cannot afford the full cost upfront,” Asokan said. “This programme is for people who are genuinely struggling but want to regain normal function and confidence.”
The grants apply only to specific implant procedures and cannot be exchanged for cash or used on other treatments. Patients can use interest-free finance options to cover any remaining balance, with repayment plans available for up to three years.
Complete Smiles said it is extending the same scheme to its newer clinics in Stafford and Bournemouth, making it the first dental provider to offer implant grants in parts of the Midlands and the South Coast.
