Toronto police have arrested a dentist in connection with an alleged sexual assault involving a patient at a Scarborough dental clinic.
Police say the incident occurred on Oct. 18, when a 21-year-old woman was receiving treatment at a dental office near Finch Avenue East and Kennedy Road. The accused is alleged to have sexually assaulted the patient during the appointment.
The dentist, identified as 66-year-old Muthuckumaru Illango of Toronto, turned himself in to police on Dec. 5. He has been charged with one count of sexual assault. The allegation has not been tested in court.
Investigators say they believe there may be additional victims.
According to police, the clinic involved operates under the name “Dr. Illango and Associates.” A website with the same name lists dental clinics in Scarborough, Markham and Brampton.
