Oral Health Innovation Highlighted at ICC’s 21st Conference in Toronto

The International College of Prosthodontics (ICC) held its 21st Biennial Conference in Toronto from September 2 to 5, 2025, with the theme “Disrupting Paradigms in Prosthodontics.”

The conference brought together students, alumni, and researchers to discuss cutting-edge oral health research through oral and poster presentations.

Doctoral student Jan Kwan delivered two oral presentations on the implant-prosthetic connection: in the “Beyond the Implant Fable” session, he presented “Redefining Stability Beyond the Inside”;

In the “Shaping the Future” session, he presented “Optimizing Implant Restorations: Integrating Hybrid Abutments for Improved Outcomes.”

On the final day, Dean Elham Emami delivered a presentation titled “eHealth in Action” in the “Multifaceted Future” session.

She explored the World Health Organization’s definition of eHealth, highlighting its growing role in cost-effective, secure healthcare delivery and its potential impact on global health systems.

The conference also featured poster presentations showcasing several research projects, including:

“Effectiveness of Zygomatic Implant Restoration in the Atrophic Edentulous Maxilla: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis” (PhD student Anisha Rodrigues)

“Effects of Grating Angle and Thermal Annealing on the Flexural Properties and Surface Quality of FDM-Printed GFR-PEEK Implants” (PhD student Nesma El-Amier)

“Bond Strength of 3D-Printed Denture Base Resin to Hard Liner Resin After Surface Functionalization” (PhD student Dana Jafarpour, Class of 2024)

This conference showcased ICC’s commitment to advancing oral health research and fostering innovation in prosthodontics worldwide.
