Free Dental Clinic and Health Services Coming to Philadelphia This Weekend

This weekend, Philadelphia will host a free pop-up health event offering medical, dental, and vision care services.

The event, held at the School of the Future at 4021 Parkside Avenue in West Philadelphia, is a collaboration between the Center for Telehealth, DentMed, and the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Department.

All services are completely free, with no insurance or ID required. Whether it’s vaccinations, dental cleanings, eye exams, or Pap smears, they can all be completed here.

“We’re providing free dental, vision, and medical services, with no insurance or ID required,” said Brad Sands, coordinator of the remote health clinic. He added, “You just come and we’ll provide high-quality care.”

The clinic will be staffed by volunteer local dentists, nurses, and vision care specialists. Dental services include cleanings, fillings, extractions, and X-rays. Vision exams will be performed, and glasses will be dispensed on-site or mailed. Basic medical services such as gynecological exams will also be included.

DentMed CEO Portia Ackridge noted that many working people, even those with insurance, still face high out-of-pocket costs, especially for services like dental and vision that are often excluded. Free clinics can effectively alleviate the financial burden on these families.

Nationwide, approximately 8% of the population is uninsured, and free, pop-up telemedicine clinics have been popular across the country, with people often lining up overnight.

Sands noted that parking will open at midnight the night before, and gates will open at 6 a.m. It will be a first-come, first-served basis. People are advised to bring food and water and be prepared to wait.

Approximately 400 people received services in Philadelphia last year, and participation is expected to increase further this year.
