NY pediatric dentist pleads guilty to sexual assault of a minor

The assault occurred in May or June of 2017, according to Niagara County Assistant District Attorney Lisa Baehre. Dr. Surace was arrested in January 2019.

Dr. Surace accepted a pre-indictment plea deal, admitting to a reduced charge of attempted first-degree criminal sexual act. State Supreme Court Justice Richard Kloch Sr. said he will not impose a sentence of more than five years with “hopes of providing for closure for the alleged victim,” according to The Buffalo News.

Dr. Surace will be placed on parole-esque supervision for five to 15 years after he serves his prison sentence.
