Wisdom teeth usually begin to come out between the ages of 17 – 21 and these are the most commonly impacted teeth.

Wisdom teeth are composed by the third molars and they have trouble erupting because there’s not enough room in your mouth for them. When an impacted tooth tries to come out, this can cause infections or swelling. You will likely feel pain in your jaw as these come out, but this is only one of the symptoms.

Regular visits to the dentist can help you prevent periodontal diseases and keep your mouth clean and free of infection. Pain can occur and disappear by itself after a few days, but return a few months or weeks later if not treated.

Only through visiting your dentist, the dentist can diagnose and determine if your wisdom teeth and back molars are coming out correctly and will not cause any shifts on your teeth.

To adequately diagnose if you have an impacted teeth, your dentist will first examine the jaw area and take an x-ray to show where your wisdom teeth are and if they are growing correctly or impacted.
