Brazilian Influencer, 26, Dies After Complications Following Breast Augmentation Surgery

A 26-year-old Brazilian mother and social media influencer has died after experiencing complications following a breast augmentation procedure, according to multiple U.K. media reports.

Alves had approximately 27,000 followers on Instagram. She reportedly underwent the surgery on February 20th. Shortly after, she began experiencing severe abdominal pain.

Her condition worsened in the days that followed, prompting doctors to conduct several medical tests and perform two additional surgeries. During these procedures, surgeons repaired her intestines and removed one of her ovaries. Alves died on Feb. 28 at Marabá Municipal Hospital in the Brazilian city of Marabá.

It was reported that the hospital’s medical team later discovered she may have had a congenital intestinal malformation, which could have been one of the contributing factors to her worsening condition.

Authorities have not raised any suspicion of medical malpractice. However, details regarding Alves’ health prior to the cosmetic procedure and her official cause of death remain under investigation. A biopsy report is expected on March 16, local outlet Carajás Notícias reported.

PEOPLE magazine said it contacted Marabá Municipal Hospital for comment but had not received a response at the time of publication. It also remains unclear where the breast augmentation surgery was performed.

Alves’ sister, Jessica, paid tribute to her on Instagram on March 2, sharing a series of photos of the two together over the years. In a message written in Portuguese, she described Alves as a “wonderful woman” and said she would miss her deeply.

“You were and always will be my other half, my favorite person in the world,” she wrote.

In one of Alves’ final social media posts, she shared a video showing her mother helping her during the early stages of recovery after the surgery.

Earlier, on Feb. 22, Alves had posted a montage of clips recorded shortly before the procedure. The vlog-style video showed her and her mother praying together before the operation.

“I put everything in the hands of my Father in Heaven because without Him I am nothing,” she wrote in Portuguese, according to a translation. “I cried a lot… but I knew everything would be alright because I knew God was with me.” The post was captioned: “Another dream coming true.”

According to PADMEL, Alves’ wake and burial were held on March 1.
