Cheongdo County, under Governor Kim Hasu, has announced a Free Dental Sealant Program targeting upper-grade elementary students (grades 4 to 6) to prevent cavities and support oral health during critical growth years.
Dental sealants are resin coatings applied to the deep grooves of molars, creating a barrier that prevents food particles and bacteria from causing cavities. This preventive treatment is particularly important for upper elementary students, as their permanent molars have fully erupted during this stage.
The program will run from February 2 to July 31 at the dental clinic on the second floor of the Cheongdo County Public Health Center. Participation will be coordinated through local elementary schools.
Eligible students must have healthy molars free of cavities. The procedure allows a maximum of two teeth to be treated per day.
Following the sealant application, students will receive personalized oral health education, including guidance on proper brushing techniques to maintain strong, healthy teeth.
Nam Junggu, Director of the Public Health Center, emphasized the importance of the initiative, saying, “Dental sealants are a simple yet highly effective way to prevent cavities and help reduce long-term medical costs. We encourage active participation so that children can preserve their permanent teeth.”
For program inquiries or reservations, parents and guardians can contact the dental clinic at the Cheongdo County Public Health Center.
