External study looks at the safety, efficacy, and patient experience of Zoom! Take-Home Whitening.
By Stan Goff, Senior Managing Editor
Already a leader in take-home whitening, Philips Zoom! Take-Home is off to a strong start this year. A new clinical study revealed great results from the whitening solution, and Philips also hosted a breakfast re-launch at the Chicago Midwinter Meeting where attendees were informed of enhancements designed to deliver optimal results and a “superb patient experience”.

The take-home whitening industry continues to grow and Philips Zoom! Take-Home Whitening is gaining renewed relevance in 2026, due to the clinical study that evaluates the safety, efficacy, and patient experience of Zoom! Take-Home. Findings directly address common whitening concerns from the hygiene chair which revealed:
- On average 8.9 shades whiter teeth after 14 days of use
- 100% of patients confirmed they had little-to-no sensitivity after 14 days of use
- Proven safe on enamel and gingiva
- Easy to use
Beyond clinical results, Philips Zoom! Take-Home is designed to support proper patient use and compliance between visits. The dual-barrel syringe design keeps ingredients separated until application to deliver a fresh, full-strength formula with no refrigeration required, while built-in dosage indicators help prevent overfilling. Customizable treatment options allow hygienists to tailor whitening plans based on patient goals and sensitivity levels, extending professional care beyond the operatory.
“We’re proud to have a new clinical study that validates the safety and efficacy of Philips Zoom! Take‑Home whitening products. Providing dental professionals with trusted, evidence-based research is central to our mission, empowering them to help patients achieve whiter teeth with safety, little-to-no sensitivity and a superb treatment experience,” said Darren Coppe, marketing director, Philips Professional Oral Healthcare.

The external study site conducted a randomized, parallel, single-blinded, single-center trial with 279 participants. Shade change was measured using VITA Bleached guide 3D-Master shade guide and toothshade was calculated as the average of 4–6 teeth.
Philips Zoom! DayWhite and NiteWhite use a unique balance of ingredients that include ACP, which helps improve tooth luster and smoothness. Furthermore, Zoom! take-home gel with ACP shows better shade maintenance 6 months after treatment than whitening gels without ACP, according to Philips data.
Dr. Uche Odiatu spoke at the Chicago Midwinter event and explained the benefits of whitening in general, and Philips Zoom! in particular. Dr. Odiatu recommends dental practices practice what they preach when it comes to whitening.
“Everyone on the team has to whiten,” he said. “When the whole team is into whitening the patients notice.”
Improved instructions, packaging, and the double-barrel syringe design all make the whitening process so convenient, Dr. Odiatu added.
“The whole concept of making whitening easy is what Philips has mastered,” he said.
- Philips Zoom! take-home solutions use the dual-barrel syringe design to keep ingredients separated until application to deliver the freshest formula each time for optimal strength. Dosage indicators prevent patients from overfilling trays and helps them use the right amount of gel for the best results.
