Dental Clinic Donation Boosts Preventive Care in Antipolo; Bukidnon IPs Gain Clean Water

ANTIPOLO CITY — A new dental clinic has been donated to Barangay Calawis, Antipolo City under the Kilos Calawis corporate social responsibility program of Prime Infra Foundation Inc. (PIF) and Olympia Violago Water and Power Inc. (OVWPI).

The facility expands dental services for residents, which were previously limited to tooth extractions, to include preventive care aimed at improving oral health and hygiene. The air-conditioned, curtained clinic is designed to provide greater comfort and privacy for patients.

Meanwhile, some 340 indigenous peoples from Manobo-Higaunon communities in the villages of Mendez, Bacusanon and Nabaliwa in Pangantucan, Bukidnon have gained access to clean and safe drinking water through a ceramic water filter known as Hydria.

Developed and patented by Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology, Hydria is a low-cost, locally made alternative to imported water filters. The portable device, housed between a lightweight plastic jug and a container, is more durable and practical for household use than traditional clay jars. It effectively removes bacteria, dust and other impurities while remaining easy to maintain.

Before the intervention, residents relied on open springs and untreated water sources often contaminated with harmful bacteria.

The filters were turned over to the local government on Nov. 13 by Department of Science and Technology–Bukidnon Provincial Science and Technology Director Ritchie Mae L. Guno.
