Dr. Jill Ellner, chairperson of this year’s local planning committee, said seeing patients leave without pain is rewarding. “It makes me happy to see people smile again and feel good about themselves,” she said.

Organizers acknowledged the more than 700 volunteers, all licensed dentists and hygienists, whose efforts make the clinic possible. “After doing this for so many years, it’s almost like a family reunion,” Ellner said.

Attendees are asked to bring a list of medications and any necessary dietary items. Organizers anticipate long lines due to high demand and ask for patience. Meals will be provided for patients waiting at the clinic.

The Kansas Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic runs Friday, Jan. 30, and Saturday, Jan. 31, offering critical dental care to the community at no cost.
