Jennifer Hill named CEO of American Dental Hygienists Association

The American Dental Hygienists Association (ADHA) has announced the appointment of Jennifer Hill as its new CEO, effective immediately.

Hill has led the organization as interim CEO since July 2023, demonstrating strong management skills and strategic vision during the transition period.

Hill has served the ADHA for 13 years and has more than 25 years of senior management experience in healthcare-related associations. She has held several key leadership positions at ADHA, including Senior Director of Strategic Operations and Director of Member Engagement.

In these roles, she actively promoted member value, optimized internal operational processes, and helped the overall development of the association.

During her tenure as interim CEO, Hill led a number of key strategic reforms. These included updating the organizational governance structure, strengthening policy advocacy at the state and federal levels, and building multi-party partnerships to expand the association’s professional impact.

Hill said of her appointment: “I am honored to serve as CEO at a time of change and opportunity for the industry.

The field of oral hygiene is evolving rapidly, and more than ever, we need to be flexible, proactive, and lead with a clear vision.

One of my priorities will be to develop a new strategic plan this fall, drive industry autonomy, and upgrade infrastructure to enhance the overall member experience.

I look forward to working with our members and partners to build a strong, sustainable future for the industry.”

ADHA President Erin Haley-Hitz, MD, B.D., M.D., praised Hill’s contributions. She noted: “Jennifer has demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility, deep insight, and sound strategic thinking during her acting tenure over the past year.

The Board is confident in her ability to lead ADHA in the future. Her extensive industry experience and deep commitment to the interests of members make her the best choice to lead our industry during this critical period.”

ADHA said Hill’s appointment reflects the association’s continued commitment to advancing the dental hygiene profession and supporting more than 226,000 dental hygienists across the country.

The association also publishes the professional journal, Journal of Dental Hygiene, a bimonthly peer-reviewed journal dedicated to promoting academic research and industry progress.

Jennifer Hill’s appointment is seen as an important step forward for ADHA, and also marks that the association is actively planning for the future in responding to industry changes and strengthening professional influence.
