PALM BEACH, Fla., Dec. 5, 2025 — Mary Drucker, a longtime Palm Beach dental assistant, has launched a series of volunteer initiatives to expand access to basic oral hygiene education and care for underserved residents.
With more than a decade in dental care, Drucker said she wants to close gaps in preventive knowledge that can harm long-term health. “Dental health isn’t a luxury. It’s a foundation for overall wellness,” she said, adding that many children and seniors lack access to basic information and resources.
Working with local nonprofits, faith groups and independent hygienists, Drucker has organized free workshops, children’s education programs and mobile screening events across the Palm Beach area.
A recent weekend clinic distributed dental kits, provided oral screenings and offered hygiene instruction to more than 100 residents—many of whom had not seen a dentist in years.
“I may not be the dentist, but as a dental assistant, I’m trained to teach people how to care for their teeth between appointments,” Drucker said. She emphasized daily habits—flossing, proper brushing and nutrition—as essential to prevention.
Local dental practices have taken notice. Several clinics have expressed interest in joining future events, donating supplies or sending staff to volunteer.
Drucker is also working with school administrators to integrate oral health lessons into classrooms, aiming to establish healthy habits early.
Colleagues describe Drucker as calm, efficient and compassionate. “She’s the heart of the clinic,” one coworker said. “Patients trust her because she listens, and because she genuinely cares.”
Beyond education, Drucker hopes her outreach will reduce fear and stigma around dental care. “Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected in the dental chair,” she said. “If I can help ease that fear, even for one person, that’s meaningful.”
For Drucker, the work is personal. “This is my home,” she said. “The people I serve aren’t just patients. They’re my neighbors and my community. Giving back isn’t extra. It’s essential.”
