Study: OrthoFX FXClear aligners get high marks in treatment time, more

A preliminary retrospective study comparing OrthoFX’s FXClear aligner system with Invisalign found that FXClear achieved shorter treatment times, fewer aligners, and greater geometric precision in mild-to-moderate malocclusion cases, according to a news release published by OrthoFX.

The study evaluated 111 cases across three private orthodontic practices treated by the same provider using identical protocols. FXClear cases averaged 17 months of treatment versus 23 months for Invisalign, required 40% fewer aligners, and averaged fewer total visits, according to OrthoFX. Three-dimensional superimposition analysis showed FXClear produced more consistent planned-to-final accuracy in both arches. Both systems achieved comparable finishing quality.

A manuscript is being prepared for submission to a peer-reviewed orthodontic journal.
