Texas dentist has license suspended

The Texas State Board of Dental Examiners has suspended the license of a dentist accused of committing child sex crimes, KFOX14 reported April 16.

Oscar Vargas, DDS, was indicted on 11 counts in March for accusations stemming back to 2025, including sexual assault of a child, aggravated sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child and possession of child pornography.

Dr. Vargas was placed under an enforced suspension April 9, according to online records.

The state dental board told KFOX14 that a “probable cause” hearing will be scheduled within 30 days and a hearing “on the merits” will be scheduled within 60 days.

At the Becker’s 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
