TJC Students to Offer Free Dental Preventative Care for East Texas Kids

TYLER, Texas — Students at Tyler Junior College (TJC) are taking a hands-on approach to community service by offering free dental preventative care to children in East Texas. This initiative aims to improve oral health among local youth while giving TJC students valuable practical experience in the field of dentistry.

The program, spearheaded by the TJC Dental Hygiene Department, will provide services including dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, oral health education, and screenings for potential dental issues. The event is open to all children in the region, with no cost to families. Parents are encouraged to schedule appointments in advance to ensure their children receive care.

“TJC is proud to give our students the opportunity to apply their learning in real-world settings while also serving our community,” said a TJC spokesperson. “Preventative dental care is critical for children, and we want to make sure that families in East Texas have access to these important services.”

The initiative not only benefits children by promoting healthier teeth and gums but also supports students in developing hands-on skills under the supervision of experienced dental instructors. TJC dental students are trained to provide care safely and effectively, ensuring that children receive high-quality dental services in a welcoming environment.

Organizers hope the event will raise awareness about the importance of oral health and encourage families to establish regular dental care routines. With cavities and other dental issues still prevalent among children, programs like this are seen as an important step toward better overall health in the community.

This free dental care event reflects TJC’s commitment to both education and public service.
