VideaHealth, a dental artificial intelligence (AI) platform, and Aspen Dental Management, one of US’ largest and fastest-growing dental support organisations, have announced the completion of a six-week rollout of VideaAI across all Aspen Dental practices.

Building on the earlier nationwide implementation of VideaHealth’s Clinical Assist platform, the initiative represents one of the largest AI deployments in dentistry to date and marks a further step in integrating AI into chairside care. For patients, the technology aims to support more efficient appointments, improved understanding of treatment options and, in some cases, a reduced need for return visits.

“Dentistry is entering a period of rapid change,” said Florian Hillen, chief executive officer and founder of VideaHealth. “Clinicians are expected to do more in less time while maintaining accuracy, empathy, and operational efficiency. Our work with Aspen Dental brings AI directly into that equation, helping teams detect disease earlier, communicate clearly with patients, and manage their day with greater confidence and efficiency.”

“Aspen Dental is on a mission to become the first AI-native dental network in the world, and that means giving our doctors and practice owners cutting-edge technology that truly changes what’s possible,” said Bob Fontana, chairman and chief executive officer of Aspen Dental. “Partnering with VideaHealth isn’t just about adding another tool; it’s about reimagining how care is delivered end-to-end. When AI helps our teams see more, communicate more clearly, and focus more time on patients, everyone wins: the doctor, the practice, and most importantly, the patient.”

Aspen Dental selected VideaAI following a pilot programme in selected practices, which indicated benefits for both clinicians and patients, including earlier identification of preventive care needs. The nationwide rollout establishes a foundation for further AI-driven developments aimed at improving clinical outcomes.

Mr Fontana and Aspen Dental’s chief clinical officer, Dr Arwinder Judge, are founding members of VideaHealth’s AI Leadership Council, which brings together leaders from major dental support organisations to guide the responsible adoption of AI across the sector.

The collaboration focuses on scaling AI solutions, continuous innovation and the development of tools intended to enhance diagnostic confidence, streamline clinical documentation and improve both clinician and patient experience.

With implementation across more than 1,100 practices now complete, Aspen Dental aims to support access to dental care in urban, rural and underserved communities across its network.

Reported benefits for patients include:
• Real-time diagnostic support intended to assist with earlier and more precise identification of conditions
• AI-assisted visual tools designed to improve patient understanding of diagnoses during chairside discussions

Reported benefits for clinicians include:
• Integration of VideaAI into Aspen Dental’s existing systems to support diagnostic review and documentation
• The ability to review images prior to examinations and use AI-assisted visualisations when discussing findings with patients

Aspen Dental reports that pilot practices experienced increased diagnostic confidence, improved documentation accuracy and higher same-day treatment acceptance rates. According to the company, pilot sites saw a 12% increase in patients accepting recommended care, particularly in relation to non-invasive treatment for early-stage caries. By highlighting early decay directly on radiographic images, the system is intended to support earlier intervention and potentially reduce the need for more invasive procedures.

Mr Hillen added that the collaboration aims not only to scale AI technology, but also to contribute to a more integrated and efficient model of dental care that supports clinicians and strengthens patient relationships.
