Dentsply Sirona, a manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, together with the cleft-focused organisation, Smile Train, geared up for World Smile Day at the company’s clinical education flagship event in Las Vegas.

The Smile Wall initiative
As part of the event, Smile Train hosted a booth for two consecutive days to raise awareness about cleft lip and palate. At its centre was the Smile Wall, an installation that invited attendees to share what makes them smile. It was designed to highlight the increasing access to oral health through global collaboration.

Cleft ambassador story shared on stage
One of the key moments came from Nasly Lopez, a 16-year-old Smile Train ambassador from Colombia who shared her cleft treatment journey. Lopez emphasised the importance of both compassion and digital innovation in treatment.
Since 2021, Dentsply Sirona has partnered with Smile Train, committing $5m to support cleft surgeries, donate equipment to Smile Train centres, and develop global digital standards for cleft care. To date, the collaboration has supported more than 5,500 surgeries and contributed equipment to 15 Smile Train centres globally.

New $100k donation announced in support of cleft care
At DS World Las Vegas 2025, Dentsply Sirona announced an additional $100k donation to Smile Train. The contribution is intended to fund cleft surgeries and ongoing care for children born with cleft lip and/or palate — a condition that can affect a child’s ability to eat, breathe, speak, and hear.

Broader community outreach efforts
DS World also featured multiple community engagement partners, including TeamSmile, Ben Massell Clinic and Dental Lifeline Network. Representatives from these organisations shared their work in providing oral health care to vulnerable children and adults.
