KNOXVILLE, Tenn — The Volunteer Ministry Center (VMC) Dental Clinic has partnered with Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) to enhance training for dental students while providing care to underserved residents.
Since 1998, VMC has served Knoxville’s unhoused and low-income population. Under the new partnership, LMU dental students will participate in Community-Based Dental Education classes, gaining hands-on experience under the guidance of trained professionals.
The clinic will be supervised by Dr. John Osborn of House Mountain Dentistry and will offer fillings, extractions, cleanings, and denture services, including provision and repair.
“These services not only address dental pain and improve overall health, but also empower patients to take steps toward stability, including seeking employment and permanent housing,” VMC said in a press release.
Free services are available to Knox County residents who meet HUD income guidelines for “Extremely Low” income or are considered literally homeless under federal standards. The clinic primarily operates on Mondays, though hours may vary, and relies on volunteer dental professionals.
