Residents of Wolverhampton can now collect free dental products as part of a citywide initiative to improve oral health. The campaign, running until the end of December, provides toothbrush and toothpaste kits at multiple locations across the city.
The scheme, launched by the City of Wolverhampton Council in partnership with The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, is focused on promoting oral hygiene, particularly among children and young people.
In addition to the free kits, an online oral health toolkit has been introduced to encourage good dental habits and raise awareness of proper oral care. Kits are available at:
Central Library
Graiseley Family Hub
WV Active Bilston-Bert Williams
WV Active Central
WV Active Aldersley
Councillor Obaida Ahmed highlighted the importance of the initiative, noting that poor oral health can affect school readiness, attendance, and overall wellbeing. “Dental issues can prevent children from eating, smiling, and socialising, impacting their confidence,” he said. “Almost 90% of hospital tooth extractions among children up to age five are preventable and linked to tooth decay, placing additional pressure on emergency dental services.”
The campaign aims to reduce these preventable problems while helping families establish healthier dental routines from an early age.
