Dentist Company to Transform Salisbury Guest House into Modern Dental Practice

Wiltshire Council has approved plans to convert Victoria Lodge, a 14-room guest house at the junction of Castle Road and Victoria Road, into a private dental practice. The decision was granted on Friday, November 14.

The building, a two-and-a-half-storey property just outside Salisbury city centre, will be operated by Bond Dental Practice under specialist prosthodontist Birute Bond. The practice is CQC-registered and offers a full range of treatments, including prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, and oral surgery.

The approved plans include up to six treatment rooms, along with an office, reception, and patient consultation areas. Salisbury City Council’s planning and development committee backed the proposal on October 20, citing the site’s long time on the market with little interest as a key factor.

Some local residents expressed concerns about increased traffic near South Wilts Grammar School. Christopher Taylor, a resident, suggested replacing a double parking bay opposite the property entrance with double yellow lines to improve safety.

Supporters highlighted the benefits of the development. Nicki Yeatman, an employee of the developers BDC02Ltd, said the new facility would improve workflow, enhance patient care, and provide a more comfortable environment for staff and visitors.

Wiltshire Council noted that the project aligns with its neighbourhood development plan. In its decision notice, the council stated: “In accordance with paragraph 39 of the National Planning Policy Framework, Wiltshire Council has worked proactively to secure this development to improve the economic, social and environmental conditions of the area.”

Construction must begin within three years of the permission date.
