Iran Launches National Oral Care Campaign in Primary Schools to Boost Children’s Dental Health

Iran’s Ministry of Health launched a week-long oral health campaign in primary schools nationwide on Saturday, aiming to raise public awareness of the important role of dental health in overall well-being.

According to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the campaign, a collaboration between municipalities, the Ministry of Education, the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation, and the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), aims to cultivate good oral hygiene habits among children.

The campaign, with the slogan “Brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes,” encourages children to brush their teeth twice a day for two minutes, floss once a day, maintain a healthy diet low in sugar, and visit the dentist regularly. The campaign also emphasizes the importance of permanent teeth, which erupt around age six.

World Oral Health Day, observed annually on March 20th, aims to provide resources and knowledge for the prevention and control of oral diseases, which affect nearly 3.5 billion people worldwide.

The 2025 campaign theme, “Happy Mouth, Happy Mind,” emphasizes the connection between oral health and mental health.
