Haleon Projects Strong Growth in European Sales, Toothpaste Brands Drive Profit Increase

Haleon, a Waterford-based pharmaceutical company, expects its sales division to generate profits of €1.4 million by 2024.

The company generates all of its €53.3 million in revenue from Europe and the consumer healthcare sector, and has experienced several consecutive years of revenue growth.

Haleon is best known for producing the painkiller brand Panadol, the toothpaste brand Sensodyne, and the vitamins Voltaren and Centrum.

Haleon was formed through the merger of the consumer healthcare businesses of Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline. Both founding companies sold their shares during the spin-off process—GSK divested all of its shares in May 2024, while Pfizer sold a stake worth €3 billion in March.

In a statement to The Irish Times, Haleon stated that its Irish headquarters is involved in “local sales of Haleon products,” but as a subsidiary, its results do not reflect “the overall performance of the Irish market.”

The company has 33 employees, including directors, with total employee compensation of €6.06 million and directors’ remuneration of €743,000. Haleon plc, listed in London, projects global revenue of £11.2 billion (€12.85 billion) in 2024, a 0.6% decrease from the previous year. However, operating profit increased to £2.2 billion.

Another significant Irish entity, Haleon Ireland Dungarvan Limited, operates a factory in Dungarvan, County Waterford, that manufactures Haleon products.

The company plans to file its financial report in November. The Dungarvan factory primarily serves the European market, and Haleon does not expect US tariffs to have a “material impact” on its 2025 performance.

Haleon states that the majority of products sold locally are manufactured locally, reflecting its globalization strategy. In 2023, Haleon Ireland Dungarvan Limited reported revenue exceeding €156 million.
