Following the 2022 launch of the Suri, their independently developed sustainable electric toothbrush, founders Gyve Safavi and Mark Rushmore are back with the upgraded Suri 2.0.
The new version fixes some of the missing features of the original toothbrush and adds some exciting new features. Like its predecessor, the Suri’s brush heads are 100% plant-based and biodegradable. After collecting four brush heads (which takes about a year), you can return them to Suri for recycling.
Even the handle itself can be repaired or recycled by Suri. Considering the unsettling fact that every toothbrush you use has a chance of ending up in a landfill, this sustainability feature is a major selling point.
Design and Construction
The Suri 2.0 retains the sleek aesthetic of the original toothbrush, but with a distinctly elegant touch compared to brands like Oral-B or Philips Sonicare. Lightweight yet sturdy, it feels incredibly high-end in the hand.
Available in five colors—black, white, blue, mint green, and pink—it weighs just 77 grams, significantly lighter than the Oral-B iO 4’s 135 grams.
Its compact design measures 22 cm in length and has a 6 cm handle circumference. The slender brush head features soft, W-shaped bristles for a thorough clean. A textured tongue cleaner is located on the back of the brush head.
The handle is crafted from matte aluminum for a secure grip even in wet conditions, and its IPX7 water resistance rating ensures it can withstand immersion in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes.
Users can switch between two cleaning modes with a single button, and an indicator light indicates when the device is in brushing mode (white or blue) or low-battery mode (red).
A five-second press activates the travel lock, and the indicator light flashes orange to confirm it’s locked. It comes with a plant-based travel cap for easy portability.
The package also includes a compact wireless USB-C charging dock and a magnetic frame, both with a minimalist off-white matte finish.
The Suri 2.0 comes with a slim travel case that includes a UV sterilizer, allowing you to sterilize your toothbrush without inserting it into the case—a convenient upgrade for keeping your toothbrush clean while traveling.
Features and Features
Compared to traditional electric toothbrushes, the Suri 2.0 offers a quieter, gentler clean, especially for sensitive gums.
Its motor has a higher amplitude than the original Suri, enabling a more powerful second cleaning mode, while maintaining a frequency of 33,000 vibrations per minute, comparable to the cleaning performance of a Philips Sonicare toothbrush.
It also features a pressure sensor that dampens the vibrations, reminding users to use less force when brushing. While gentle, it’s effective for gums and teeth. With standard use, the battery lasts over a month and fully charges in just four hours.
Price and Availability
In the UK, the Suri 2.0 is available from Suri or Boots for £105 (including the travel case), slightly more than the original Suri. In the US, this toothbrush starts at $95, and the set with travel case is $119.
While the Suri 2.0 isn’t the cheapest option on the market, it offers excellent value, especially when compared to competitors like the Oral-B iO series.
Its long battery life, high-quality build quality, USB charging, and UV-cleaning travel case make it an excellent choice for daily oral care.
The Suri 2.0 is more than just an eco-friendly toothbrush; it’s a thoughtfully designed, user-friendly electric toothbrush that combines performance, style, and sustainability.
Quiet, comfortable, and long-lasting, it’s even captivating those who previously disliked electric toothbrushes, proving that sustainable oral care can be a truly enjoyable experience.
