DOCS Dental Clinic Launches “Summer Smiles” Program to Support Military Families

With summer just around the corner, DOCS Dental is making it easier for military families to maintain their oral health through its “Summer Smiles” initiative. The program provides proactive oral health guidance and reminds patients that now is the ideal time to schedule routine checkups.

“One of the biggest challenges for military families is moving every two to four years,” Mark Blakenship, Director of Operations at DOCS Dental, told FOX21 Morning News on July 25.

With each move, active-duty service members are assigned to a new clinic, and families must navigate new healthcare services in unfamiliar communities.”

He added that DOCS Dental, with 25 clinics across the United States and one in Europe, provides seamless healthcare transitions for military families.

The “Summer Smiles” initiative emphasizes simple actions that can lead to significant improvements:

Stay hydrated: Summer heat and outdoor activities increase the body’s need for water. Drinking plenty of water not only contributes to overall health but also promotes oral health, preventing dry mouth and helping saliva naturally prevent cavities. Personalized water bottles or fruit-based waters can encourage children to drink water instead of sugary drinks.

Carry a portable dental kit: Whether you’re in the field or traveling, always carry a toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste, and dental floss (or floss picks) to ensure your mouth is always clean.

Wear a mouthguard: Wearing a mouthguard during summer sports can prevent dental injuries, especially during contact sports and high-impact activities, keeping your teeth safe and your smile looking its best.

Through this program, DOCS Dental is making it easy for military families to maintain healthy smiles during the summer.
