Professor Idia Ize-Iyamu, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) and Chief Medical Director-designate of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), launched a free oral health promotion and treatment program on Wednesday themed “Understand Your Oral Health and Take Control of Your Overall Health.”
The event, jointly organized by the Departments of Community Dental Health, Periodontology, and the Dental Department of the UNIBEN Health Centre, served as a precursor to the Faculty of Dentistry’s 10th Distinguished Lecture Series and Annual Scientific Conference.
At the event, Professor Ize-Iyamu officially opened a renovated and fully equipped dental clinic donated by the family of the late Dr. Victor Ovbiagele.
She commended the generous gesture, describing it as “carving one’s name in gold,” and urged alumni to similarly support the university.
She also thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edoba Omoregie, for his efforts in upgrading campus facilities and equipment, and pledged to continuously improve the quality of care through a dedicated team and adherence to best practices.
