Teeth Cleaning Gets Smarter and Simpler: A Deep Dive into the Ordo Sonic+ Toothbrush

Electric toothbrush technology has advanced dramatically in recent years. Many high-end models not only connect to phones via Bluetooth but also feature 3D imaging and real-time brushing guidance. While these features are impressive, they often come with a hefty price tag and aren’t necessarily necessary for a deep clean.

Since 2019, I’ve been testing electric toothbrushes from various brands and price points. Among these products, the Ordo stands out, challenging the traditional high-priced smart toothbrush with its simple, practical design. Ordo has been offering sonic toothbrushes since 2008, focusing on basic cleaning rather than adding extra features.

I recently tried out their latest model, the Ordo Sonic+, and as a long-time user, I focused on the following aspects:

Battery Life

The manufacturer promises up to four weeks of use on a full charge. Three months of testing confirmed this. Charging time is reasonable, and the device features a USB port for ease of use.

Usability

The Sonic+ features a two-minute timer and quadrant guidance, making it easy to maintain a consistent brushing routine. The brush head replacement reminder is also a nice touch, especially when paired with Ordo’s brush head subscription service, which allows users to receive new brush heads regularly.

Cleansing and Long-Term Performance

During my testing, I evaluated the “freshly cleaned” feeling after cleaning, paying particular attention to the removal of plaque, breath odor, and tea and coffee stains. The whitening mode showed noticeable brightening results after several weeks, while the sensitive and massage modes provided comfort for sensitive gums.

Lightweight Design and Balanced Functionality

The Ordo Sonic+’s handle is lightweight and lacks complex components like gyroscopes or accelerometers, making it more maneuverable. While it lacks a pressure-sensing light (like the real-time pressure indicator on the Oral-B iO series), the brush head design is excellent, with W-shaped bristles and a central silicone cross-shaped area for comprehensive coverage and enhanced whitening.

However, it’s important to note that the brush head vibrates at 40,000 beats per minute, slightly lower than the Philips Sonicare’s 62,000 beats per minute. The standard mode (31,000 strokes per minute) is relatively gentle, but I later switched to the white mode for a more intense clean. While slightly less powerful than higher-end models, the cleaning effect was still satisfactory.

The Ordo Sonic+ is a toothbrush that simplifies its technology stack while still delivering a powerful clean. While lacking smart monitoring features, it performs reliably in daily use, has excellent battery life, and is lightweight, making it a great choice for those who prefer a more affordable experience over complex technology.

For those who want to maintain good oral health without breaking the bank, this toothbrush is undoubtedly a worthy choice.
