Woman’s Breast Augmentation Leads to Silicone Leakage, Life-Threatening Health Crisis

A woman has revealed how a botched breast augmentation nearly cost her life after silicone from her ruptured implants leaked into her body, causing severe complications.

Carol Paredes, 52, decided to undergo the surgery in 2016 after becoming self-conscious about her B-cup chest. However, her quest for perfection would soon turn into a health nightmare.

Initially, Paredes experienced discomfort, but things worsened over the years. By 2021, she had developed intense, unexplained pain, especially in her groin area, and soon found herself in a wheelchair. Doctors initially dismissed her symptoms, suggesting stress or psychological causes. Paredes was unable to find relief, and her condition continued to deteriorate.

The former fitness coach underwent multiple medical tests, but no issues were identified. As the pain became unbearable, arthritis set in, further limiting her mobility. Desperate for answers, Paredes eventually saw a chiropractor who identified the implants as the root cause. An MRI revealed that her left implant had ruptured, with silicone leaking into her body.

Urgent surgery was required to remove the implants. During the process, Paredes suffered complications, including a hip injury caused by a chiropractor, requiring two hip replacements in 2023. She also endured a life-threatening infection during the implant removal, which led to open-heart surgery in March 2024 after the infection caused an aneurysm.

The mounting medical bills, totaling £11,000, left Paredes financially strained. She relied on crowdfunding and sold her belongings to cover the costs. While she still faces some mobility challenges, Paredes is no longer in the constant pain that once ruled her life.

Now sharing her story on social media, Paredes hopes to raise awareness of the potential risks of cosmetic surgery, urging others to think carefully before undergoing similar procedures. “If you have unexplained health issues after getting implants, get them removed,” she warns. “Don’t risk your life trying to be perfect — because there is no such thing.”
