Knox County Offers Free Dental Care for Children and Young Adults This Summer

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knox County Health Department (KCHD) is offering free dental services this June and July to children and young adults between the ages of 1 and 21 through its School-Based Dental Program.

The services include dental education, screenings, and exams. They will be available at two locations across several dates, aiming to improve access to oral healthcare during the summer months.

“Tooth decay is the most common chronic disease in childhood, yet it is largely preventable,” said Sarah Naill, a dental hygienist with the program. “Attending free events like this is an easy step to ensure a healthy smile for children.”

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, more than 45% of children develop tooth decay by the age of 19, highlighting the importance of preventive care.
